Alipay Tour Pass vs linking a foreign card — which is smoother?

Setting up before my trip. Should I use the Tour Pass mini-program or just bind my credit card directly to Alipay? Any hidden fees?

Just bind the card directly. Under ¥200 there is no surcharge; above that there is a small fee. Works at 99% of places including street stalls. Tour Pass is only worth it if your bank blocks the direct binding.

Also enable it in WeChat as a backup — a few tiny vendors only had WeChat Pay QR codes.
