Getting Around
Vietnam is long and thin, so travelers mix cheap domestic flights for big hops with trains, buses and Grab bikes for shorter journeys. The motorbike is the beating heart of it all.

Domestic flights
The fastest way to cover the 1,600 km between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines, VietJet and Bamboo connect all major cities cheaply if booked ahead.
The railway
The Reunification Express runs the length of the coast. The Hanoi–Da Nang and Da Nang–Hue legs are especially scenic; book a soft sleeper for overnight comfort.
City transport
Use Grab for cars and motorbike taxis — cheap, metered and cashless. Hanoi and HCMC are dense and walkable in their centers, though crossing the traffic takes nerve.
Renting a motorbike
Motorbikes are the classic way to explore places like Hoi An and the Hai Van Pass. Ride only if experienced, always wear a helmet, and carry the correct license.
