A note for foreign drivers: A foreign license is not valid in mainland China — you need a temporary Chinese permit (often arranged at major airports) or, more commonly, a car with a local driver, and Tibet requires a permit and guided tour. For the overseas routes, an International Driving Permit alongside your home license is usually all you need.
