Can I use the 240-hour transit visa flying into Shanghai (PVG)?

I'm flying Rome → Shanghai → Tokyo with a 3-day gap in between. Does the new 240-hour visa-free transit work at Pudong, and do I need to show the onward ticket to Japan at check-in?

Yes — as of the expanded policy it covers Shanghai and you can move freely within the region. Have your onward ticket to a THIRD country/region (Japan counts) ready both at the departure airport and at the China border. Rome check-in staff sometimes need a gentle reminder the policy exists.

Fill in the arrival card and go to the "Temporary Entry / 临时入境" counter, not the regular immigration line. Took me about 20 minutes at PVG.
